New Samoa 7s coach Sir Gordon Tietjens is already busy with his new role and will be assisting Stephen Betham in selecting the Samoan team to the Dubai 7s next month.
Tietjens who will officially start on January 1st was happy with the new local players that played against Fiji for the first time in the Oceania 7s final.
He says despite the lack of experience, they still managed to pressure the Olympic champions until the last 40 seconds.
Tietjens believes they will assemble a better side for Dubai.
Samoa’s captain Fa’alemiga Selesele is expected to lead the side with Samoa Toloa, Tila Mealoi, Belgium Tuatagaloa and Phoenix Hunapo‑Nofoa.
The Dubai 7s will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of next month.
Meanwhile the Vodafone Fiji 7s team is currently in camp at the Uprising Beach Resort.
They are pooled with Canada, Argentina and Wales.
