Fiji have some much needed firepower back in their squad with the likes of Jasa Veremalua and Isake Katonibau.
Former New Zealand captain and World Rugby commentator Karl Tenana says Fiji will again be very tough to beat and not a team you want to be drawn against in the pool stages of the Hong Kong 7s.
Tenana says Fiji coach Gareth Baber knows the ins and outs of Hong Kong and he will be very motivated to get a win.
He says South Africa has been a strength this year because they are consistently good but also because they have a great squad and no team can play the whole year with the same starting seven players.
Tenana says it takes a lot more than any other tournament to win in Hong Kong for a couple reasons.
The Vodafone Fiji 7s team is pooled with New Zealand, Wales and Japan.
Fiji will play their first game against Japan at 11.54pm Friday, they will take on Wales at 5.12pm Saturday before they play New Zealand in their final pool match at 9.12pm Saturday.
The quarter finals will start at 2.58pm Sunday, the semifinals will start at 7.31pm Sunday while the Final will be held at 11pm Sunday.
