Team Fiji has arrived in Solomon Islands, and they are in high spirits.

142 athletes and officials received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Honiara.

They were escorted by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces stationed in Honiara, together with the Games Organising Committee to their Games Village at Saint Nicholas College.

The various sporting teams that went in the first flight for the first week of competition include table tennis, football, rugby 7s, rugby league 9s, karate, volleyball, para-athletics, basketball, archery, weightlifting, swimming, tennis and golf.

Team Fiji Chef De Mission Ajay Ballu says they have been travelling to and from the Solomon Islands in the lead-up to today to ensure that their accommodation village is ready for their athletes and officials.

They are appreciative of the support from the Solomon Islands and look forward to the competition over the next two weeks. Team Fiji will take part in basketball, football, table tennis and volleyball this Friday.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Solomon Islands Pacific Games Opening Ceremony will be held on Sunday at the National Stadium in Honiara.
