NSW five-eighth Mitchell Moses has been ruled out of Origin II at next Wednesday after suffering a calf injury at training.
Moses injured his calf 20 minutes into an opposed training session in the Blue Mountains this morning and was immediately ruled out.
The Blues are yet to name a replacement but Bulldogs five-eighth Matt Burton is already in the squad as the 18th man, while Wests Tigers playmaker Jarome Luai is another option.
Luai played all three matches of last year's series, partnering his four-time premiership winning Panthers team-mate Nathan Cleary in the opening game and Moses in Origin II and III.
Canterbury winger Jacob Kiraz has been called into the NSW Blues camp with Brian To'o battling a hamstring niggle.
To'o will be rested for precautionary reasons but is expected to train on Saturday.
To'o has navigated a hamstring injury throughout the first three months of the season, spending two separate stints on the sidelines.
While the latest niggle casts a cloud over his fitness for next week's Origin clash, the Blues are confident he will be cleared to take his place in next weeks Origin clash.
Origin Game Two kicks off at 10.05pm next Wednesday at Perth's Optus Stadium.
