The Springboks have arrived in Toulon in bullish form following a 10.5 hour ferry trip from the Mediterranean island of Corsica.

Springboks head coach Jacques Nienaber says the side is chomping at the bit to kick off their 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign against Scotland in their opening match on Monday in Marseille, after what he’s described as a productive one-week island training camp.

Nienaber says they had a great ferry trip, which was a unique experience for the team, and they are thrilled to finally be in Toulon for the World Cup.

He says it was an overnight trip, so the players managed to get good rest and are now officially in World Cup mode.

The Springboks coach says they ticked the boxes they wanted to from a training perspective in Corsica and they will return to the field raring to go tomorrow.

Nienaber says there is a lot of excitement in the group and the team is completely aligned in terms of what they have to do if they want to be successful in France.

He says they we will approach the tournament one match at a time, as the hard work behind the scenes to prepare for the Scotland clash started in Corsica already.

The Springboks will play Scotland at 3.45am next Monday.
