The Labasa soccer coach Roneel Lal says he knew sending Solomon Islander Dennis Ifunaoa in the latter stages of the match would prove to be decisive.

Ifunaoa scored the side's only goal in the first half of extra time yesterday as Labasa beat Suva 1-0 in the final to win the Courts IDC.

Lal says Ifunaoa is the type of player who is very effective when the opposition is tired and that was always their strategy from the start.

Lal dedicated the win to his family.

Meanwhile Ifunaoa says he is very proud and excited after scoring the winning goal and adds he was confident that he would score if given the opportunity.

This was Labasa’s 5th overall IDC win and they last won the title in 2016.
