Rugby inspires Fijian women to break barriers - Saukuru

Rugby has become the heart of many women in Fiji, boosting their interest in striving for greater exposure in the traditionally male-dominated sports field.

While speaking at the presentation of the i-tatau for the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team, Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru says 28 percent of rugby players worldwide are women.

Saukuru has also encouraged the players to care for each other, inspire and motivate one another positively, and remain united as a team.

He also reminded them to stay confident and give their best on the field.

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team is set to depart for Dubai on Sunday.

Fiji is in Pool A alongside Ireland, China and Australia for the Dubai 7s.

The Dubai 7s will take place from next Saturday to Monday 2nd December.
