The first southern derby of Super Rugby Aotearoa is set to raise the temperature in Dunedin tomorrow. Before COVID-19 stalled the Super Rugby competition, the Highlanders had won just one game from seven matches, so the lockdown became the perfect opportunity for some self-reflection.
Highlanders captain and halfback Aaron Smith told Newshub that they had a good look at themselves during the COVID-19 lockdown period with what they were doing and where they are as a team.
Smith says they needed to look back at the things that made them what they were when they were successful in his early years with the Highlanders which is something they are looking at bringing into the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition.
Crusaders Coach Scott Robertson also acknowledges that his side will face are a different Highlanders team from the one they defeated in February.
The Highlanders will take on the Crusaders at 7.05pm tomorrow while the Chiefs will face the Hurricanes at 3.35pm Sunday.
