Counties Manukau halfback Augustine Pulu has been called into the All Blacks to replace Aaron Smith for Saturday night’s Bledisloe Cup test against the Wallabies at Eden Park.
Smith stood himself down from the test match after New Zealand rugby conducted a disciplinary hearing into an incident at Christchurch Airport involving a female friend in a disabled toilet.
However, All Blacks assistant coach Ian Foster told Radio Sport it is unlikely Pulu will make the match day 23, with TJ Perenara and Tawera Kerr‑Barlow ahead of him in the pecking order.
Perenara is expected to start his third consecutive match for the All Blacks, as they attempt to win a world record of 18 consecutive test matches.
The All Blacks will face the Wallabies at 7.35pm this Saturday.
