Police reclaim Sukuna Bowl Men’s Touch Rugby title in a thrilling 9–8 win over Army

Police have reclaimed the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Touch rugby title after edging Army 9–8 in a fiercely contested match on Nasova Grounds.

Police captain Paul Darroch says the team entered the game with a clear determination not to be defeated on their home turf, especially after last year’s loss at the HFC Bank Stadium.

He describes the clash as an intense and relentless battle, with both sides fighting hard for every point.

Darroch emphasizes that the match was far from a typical club-level touch rugby game, noting the physicality and roughness that reflected the long-standing rivalry between the two forces.

Despite the intensity on the field, Darroch highlights that the camaraderie between the two teams remain strong off the pitch.

He says the team was determined to retain the title and protect their home soil, making full use of the home crowd advantage.

The captain revealed that players even bled during the match, something he calls normal for Nasova grounds due to the high level of physical commitment.

Looking ahead, Darroch hopes the victory will set positive momentum for other Police teams competing in the remaining Ratu Sukuna Bowl competition.

He dedicates the win to God, the Police organization, their families, and supporters, acknowledging the collective strength behind the team’s success.

Meanwhile, Army defeated Police 8-4 in the Mix Touch rugby and the oldies will take the field at 2.30pm at Nasova Grounds.
