Joseph Parker's promoters will pursue a world title unification clash with Deontay Wilder next year after the New Zealander was crowned as the new WBO champion.
The unbeaten 24‑year‑old claimed the WBO belt after a majority decision win over Andy Ruiz Jr on Saturday in Auckland.
David Haye was set to face the winner of Parker‑Ruiz Jr within 120 days, but has since pulled out.
Wilder has held the WBC heavyweight title since 2015, and in doing so became the first American world heavyweight champion in nine years, which was the longest period of time in boxing history without an American heavyweight champion.
