All Blacks coach Ian Foster has re-signed through to the end of the 2023 World Cup.

New Zealand Rugby Chief Executive Mark Robinson says the appointment meant Foster could now plan for next year and beyond with certainty.

NZR said they have also started work on contracting the rest of Foster’s coaching staff and management team. His assistants are John Plumtree, Brad Mooar, Scott McLeod and Greg Feek.

He says Foster has faced extraordinary times since he was first appointed, with the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the numerous challenges it has thrown up, and he has shown remarkable composure and resolve to lead incredibly well through it all.

After taking the role following the retirement of Sir Steve Hansen following the 2019 World Cup, Foster has defended the Bledisloe Cup twice, and won last year’s Tri-Nations. He has also debuted 13 new players.
