Nemani Nagusa has been given the role to captain the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua for the Super Rugby Pacific Competition that starts next month.

Nagusa has captained the Fiji 7s Team and Fijian Warriors.

Coack Mick Byrne says Nagusa has the ethics and qualities of a leader.

Nagusa says he is delighted and thankful to lead a young team in one of the toughest rugby competitions in the world.

He says growing up in Fiji, he used to support the Crusaders team and looks up to former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw as a role model.

The Drua will have two trial matches before their first Super Rugby Pacific match on the 18th of next month.

The first trial match is against Western Force on the 30th of this month while the second trial match is against the Rebels in Melbourne on 10th February, 2022.

The Drua will play the Waratahs in their opening game at 8.45pm Friday 18th February in Sydney. The Drua will play one home game in Fiji against the Highlanders on April 30th at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
