The National Rugby League, the Fiji National Rugby League and the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Voice Against Violence program which is for five years.
Australian Jilaroos captain Ruan Sims who is the sister of the Sims brothers and one of the Ambassadors of the program, says it is their social responsibility to go and provide programs to junior rugby league clubs to educate and empower them to help them survive in everyday life.
Sims also shared some statistics of violence against women in Fiji.
NRL General Manager of Community Programs Ellen Beale says the Rugby League’s message is that violence against women and children is never acceptable.
Beale says they are working with the Fiji Women Crisis Centre and FNRL to provide educational workshops to provide rugby league teams with information about domestic violence, respectable relationship and what they can do about this issue and support one another.
