Melbourne Storm say they will not “poke the bear” knowing it could be a recipe for Grand Final disaster.
The bear Melbourne Storm is referring to is Jason Taumalolo.
Storm assistant coach Jason Ryles says it is impossible to stop the rampaging forward.
Ryles told Fox Sports it would be silly to poke the bear in a final.
Jason Taumalolo is set to become the first NRL player to register 5000 running metres in a single season.
If he can make just 56 metres more in the grand final he will break his own record, set in 2016.
The NRL Grand Final between the Cowboys and Melbourne Storm will kick off at 8.15pm Sunday.
