With one day left to the much anticipated fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, Mayweather believes his Irish opponent is struggling to make weight.
McGregor and Mayweather will fight at 69.85kg, with the Irishman fighting almost all of his Mix Martial Arts career at featherweight which is at 65kg.
Mayweather adds that there are rules in boxing when it comes to meeting the weight requirements.
Meanwhile McGregor responded to Mayweather’s statement saying he is confident that he will make the weight during the weigh in tomorrow.
If McGregor comes in over the weight, he will get a fine taken out of his fight purse.
Because there’s no belt on the line, all that McGregor has to lose is a fine, not the chance to win a title.
McGregor’s fine, however, would go straight to Mayweather’s pocket, as the fighter who fails to make the weight has to pay his opponent.
The World Boxing Council last night presented a special emerald belt called “The Money Belt” for the historic matchup studded with 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 300 emeralds and 1.5 kilograms of solid, 24 karat gold.
With the estimated revenue and splits in mind, Mayweather is expected to take US$230 million while McGregor will take US$70million.
The weigh-in will be at 10am tomorrow.
The fight will start at about 3pm Sunday.
