Floyd Mayweather has given Conor McGregor a huge boost by agreeing to fight using lighter gloves.
The two are set to meet on August 27th at the junior‑middleweight weight limit of 69kg, which means that the 200grams boxing gloves are mandatory, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission rules.
However, on Tuesday evening Mayweather took to social media and made an interesting offer: “I’m telling McGregor, ‘let’s fight in 120grams gloves’”, he wrote on his Instagram page.
Mayweather has only fought at 69kg three of his 49 bouts which was against Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez.
Mayweather, who holds a perfect 49‑0 fight record and won 12 world titles across five weight divisions, is considered one of the greatest pound‑for‑pound fighters boxing has ever seen.
The fight will be held on the 27th of this month at the T‑Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
