Marist 7s: Galoa Under 18 and 21 teams hoping to better their results from last year

Our young rugby players grew up watching and listening to stories of the Marist 7s, and they are hoping to better their results from last year.

This was shared by the Galoa Under 18 and Under 21 Coach Mijieli Savu during the briefing for the U-18 and U-21 in Lambert Hall Flagstaff.

Savu says they have prepared well for the 49th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s and have challenged the players to push themselves and try and impress the National 7s selectors or scouts from big clubs in Suva or overseas.

He is urging people from Galoa who are currently working or schooling in Suva to come in numbers and support their Village teams who will take part in tournament.

Marist Rugby President Lawrence Tikaram says having a good range of grassroots teams in this year's competition is always exciting because this is their podium and their mecca of sevens.

He says teams that are hidden and unknown are part of this year's games and they come as far as Cakaudrove, Bua and Naitasiri, and the western side as well.

Tikaram says teams as far as Lakeba are taking part for the very first time and will grace the 7s tournament as well.

The Marist Club President is calling on people to support their teams, because it is an honour for Marist Club to host these teams.

The Marist 7s kicks off Thursday and ends this Saturday.
