The Central Coast 7s may just be another overseas tournament for top clubs from Fiji but it is a great opportunity to go overseas for about three quarter of the Ratu Filise 7s players.
With the excitement building up to the much anticipated tournament this weekend, most of the Ratu Filise players can call this trip as an achievement after months of training at Namatakula village, Nadroga.
Ratu Filise was the most entertaining team in the Coral Coast 7s earlier this year where they showcased their skills and foot work to upset the Australian Thunderbolts 26‑24 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Coach Etika Tovilevu who will join the team today says they were only included at this year’s Coral Coast 7s because they had to replace a team that did not turn up that day.
He adds that this also opened the door for them to be invited to their first ever club trip to any tournament overseas.
Tovilevu says all the players who featured at the Coral Coast 7s will be playing again this weekend including their captain Leveni Tani who is the younger brother of Alipate and Kaliova Tani, Fiji 7s rep Amenoni Nasilasila, Ratu Vio Batibasaga who is also part of the Fiji Bati squad and their exciting youngster Waisake Tani who is the youngest of the Tani brothers.
Ratu Filise is pooled with the Australian National 7s team, Taloa Old Boys from Tonga and West Harbor in Pool A.
The Central Coast 7s will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
