Conor McGregor could be set for another foray into the boxing ring after Manny Pacquiao said he had opened talks to fight the Irish mixed martial arts star.
McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion, has not fought since losing to undefeated boxing great Floyd Maywether, for which he was said to have earned a whopping US$100 million.
Pacquiao has approached McGregor's handlers in the hope of setting up a fight, but said there had yet to be any follow‑up conversations.
Pacquiao, who turns 39 later this month, lost his WBO welterweight title to Australian Jeff Horn in July.
And he stressed that McGregor is just one of many possible opponents, including a rematch against Horn who makes his first title defence against Britain's Gary Corcoran in Brisbane next week.
