It used to sell out in minutes, but by mid‑December last year less than 4 per cent of tickets for the Wellington Sevens have been sold.
Tickets for the two‑day event, which is being played at Westpac Stadium went on sale in September last year.
Stuff.co is reporting that by mid‑December only 1,300 tickets had been sold for the tournament, despite the stadium having a capacity of 34,500.
Last year the Wellington 7s drew crowds of 15,000 people on both weekend days but the event was understood to have lost $300,000.
The Wellington 7s will be held on the 28th and 29th of this month.
