Liam Wright to leave Queensland Reds ahead of 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season

The Queensland Reds have announced that former captain Liam Wright will leave the club ahead of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

Wright has been a stalwart of Queensland Rugby for nearly a decade, playing 86 matches for the Reds since his debut in 2018.

The 27-year-old has battled injuries throughout his career and worked his way into the Wallabies side on six occasions, including leading Australia in 2024 against Wales.

The flanker ends his tenure at the Reds as their third-most capped skipper with 55 matches, behind only James Horwill and Mark Loane.

Wright says captaining the Reds was a real honour, but what he is most proud of are the moments when he was not on the field.

He says those times taught him how to contribute in other ways, deepened his understanding of leadership, and helped shape him into the person he is today.
