Ngani Laumape is hoping to continue his hot start to the year and lock up the Hurricanes' No 12 jersey for the season.
The second five‑eighth, in his second season back in the 15‑man form of the game after leaving the Warriors at the end of 2015, has continued his strong form from the NPC, where he was a key attacking weapon for Manawatu and in two starts for the Hurricanes this year.
But the challenge will be maintaining that level for the full season.
The Hurricanes' big wins over the Sunwolves and Rebels meant it has been hard to standout in the Hurricanes' backline.
The Hurricanes will face the Chiefs at 6.35pm Friday while the Crusaders will take on the Reds at 8.45pm Saturday.
In other matches, the Brumbies will take on the Force at 8.45pm Friday, the Sharks will face the Waratahs at 5.00am Saturday and the Blues will meet the Highlanders at 6.35pm Saturday.
The Hurricanes are tied with the Chiefs at the top of the Super Rugby points table with 10 points, the Lions are in second place with 9 points, while the Stormers are in third place with 8 points.
