It is often heard that soccer players switch to rugby for a brighter future but for 23-year-old Siotame Kubu this is totally the opposite.
Kubu who used to play for the Matawalu Rugby team as a flyhalf made the tough decision in 2015 to hang his rugby boots and start his soccer career with the Blues.
Kubu’s decision to switch to soccer is now paying dividends as the whole soccer fraternity in Fiji is talking about him after Kubu scored a hat-trick against Nadi and scored the crucial equalizer against Rakiraki recently.
The former Drasa Secondary School student has assured Lautoka fans that the Blues will give their top performance in the Vodafone Fiji FACT.
Kubu will play alongside experienced players such as Kolinio Sivoki, Jone Vesikula, Zibraaz Sahib, Dave Radrigai, Jone Vono Junior and Valerio Nawatu.
Lautoka will open its Vodafone Fiji FACT campaign against Rewa at 7.30pm this Friday at Ratu Cakobau Park and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Radio Sargam.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Football Association is monitoring the situation as Tropical Cyclone Ella is heading our way and the Fiji FACT is scheduled to kick off this Friday at Ratu Cakobau Park.
Competitions Manager Amitesh Pal says the Fiji FA Board will deliberate on the issue.
