Fiji 7s captain Osea Kolinisau has urged World Rugby to consider hosting a World Rugby Sevens tournament in Fiji following an embarrassing turnout in Wellington at the weekend.
Kolinisau says he could see no reason why a tournament could not be staged in Fiji.
He says a tournament in Fiji would be amazing and it would be sold out within two or three months.
New Zealand 7s co-coach Scott Waldrom has also expressed his disappointment saying it definitely did not feel like hometown support at the Wellington 7s as there were far more Fijian supporters and flags.
New Zealand Rugby has two years left on its three‑year deal to host a round of the World Sevens Series.
There is the option of moving the event to another city, however, nothing has been confirmed.
Fiji will play Samoa in their first game at 11.36am this Saturday, their second game is against Wales at 2.42pm and the final pool match is against France at 8.29pm.
The Gold Medal Quarter Finals will start at 12.58pm Sunday, the semis will start at 4.53pm while the final will kick off at 7.51pm.
Barring any upsets Fiji may meet New Zealand, Scotland or Australia in the quarterfinal.
