Former New Zealand 7s captain Karl Te Nana has added his support to those calling for one leg of the World 7s Series to be hosted in the Pacific.
Pressure is mounting for a switch after the poor turnout in Wellington, and even though the New Zealand capital is his home city, Te Nana acknowledges it may be time for a change.
Now a key member of the TV commentary team for the World Series, Te Nana has told Pacific Beat that staging a tournament in the Pacific would be a fitting reward for the home of sevens.
He believes the organisers will be surprised to see the stadium already full even two hours before the tournament kicks off.
Meanwhile the Vancouver 7s will be held this weekend.
Fiji will take on Wales at 6.36am Sunday, their second game is against Samoa at 10.12am Sunday before meeting Argentina at 1.52pm Sunday in our last pool match.
The Medal quarter finals will start at 6.08am next Monday, the semis start at 10.08am Monday while the final will kick off at 1.19pm Monday.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is likely to meet USA, Australia or France in the quarter finals, we will meet either New Zealand or England in semifinals and South Africa in the final.
