Hurricanes star Jordie Barrett will not join the New Zealand under‑20 squad because of his Super Rugby commitments with the Hurricanes and potentially the All Blacks for the Lions series.
Head coach Craig Philpott has named the 28‑man squad hoping to win back the Rugby World Championship in Georgia this month.
He says all 32 players they took on the successful Oceania Tournament campaign last week put their hands up for World Championship selection, and all merited the opportunity to wear the black jersey in Georgia.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes will play the Crusaders at 7.35pm this Saturday in the Super Rugby.
