Japanese SDS Men's 7s team defeats All Blacks 7s team 17-14 in Oceania 7s
New Zealand is still in the run for the Oceania title if they defeat Fiji at 7.26 tonight.

The Japanese SDS Men's 7s team has defeated the All Blacks Men's 7s team 17-14 in the Oceania International 7s competition.

This is a development Japanese side.

Japan had earlier won their first match against Niue 50-0 and was thumped by Fiji 31-0 in their second game.

New Zealand is still in the run for the Oceania title if they defeat Fiji at 7.26 tonight.

Coach Clark Laidlaw says it was frustrating to lose with some of the younger players making some mistakes.

Laidlaw says they need to put on a better performance when they'll face Fiji tonight and get the young players more expose to getting pressured by Fiji.

In other results, Fiji Totokia defeated Fiji Kiakava 12-0 in the deaf competition, Samoa thumped Tonga 43-0 and Fijiana thrashed Solomon Islands 75-0 in the Women's Olympic Qualifier, Australia defeated New Zealand 17-5 in the Women's International competition, Tonga defeated Nauru 34-5 while Australia thrashed American Samoa 66-0 in the Men's Olympic Qualifiers.

The Oceania 7s tournament is currently underway at the ANZ Stadium.
