No one is guaranteed a Fijian 7s jersey and they will earn their place in the team only through hard work and performance.

Vodafone Fiji 7s coach, Gareth Baber has made this clear as we get ready for this weekend’s Singapore 7s.

Baber says he will continue to get the best talent for the team as we head into the next few years.

Meanwhile First Light Taveuni playmaker, Lemeki Tulele wishes his parents were still alive to see his achievements this weekend.

The 28-year-old led the Taveuni 7s team to their first local major title when they won the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s early this year.

He was called in by coach Gareth Baber to cover for injured Vatemo Ravouvou.

Tulele hails from Qeleni Taveuni and believes his struggles have pushed him through to never give up on his dream to represent Fiji at the World Sevens Series.

Speaking from Singapore, Tulele was emotional as he recalled the tough times he has been through and he hopes to be included in the final 13 tomorrow.

Tulele went to Wainikeli District School, and then attended Holy Cross College in form 3 and 4.

He later moved to Niusawa Methodist High School for form 5 and 6.

He also played for Red Rock in his early rugby career before heading back to Taveuni to represent his home island.

Meanwhile the national side alongside World Rugby Ambassadors Willie Lose and Karl Te Nana, took to the field yesterday with 50 local and international students in a special Rugby 7s clinic organised by the Singapore Rugby Union in support of SportCares Foundation.

The students also had the opportunity to engage with Fiji 7s captain, Osea Kolinisau and the rest of the Fiji 7s players including Jerry Tuwai and Jasa Veremalua, in a question-and answer session.

Fiji will play Hong Kong in their first pool match at 4.52pm this Saturday, their second game is against Russia at 7.50pm and their final pool match is against Canada at 12.06am Sunday.

The quarters will kick off at 4.30pm Sunday, the semis will start at 9.10pm while the Gold Medal Final will kick off at 12.20am Monday.
