FIJI Water Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere acknowledges the hard work put in by the Fijian boys to clinch their seventh Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup title, despite being two man down in the final 20 minutes.

Fiji’s Viliame Mata and Eroni Mawi were shown yellow cards for indiscipline, reducing the team to 13 players.

Despite intense pressure and a two-man disadvantage, the Fijian defensive line held firm for the final 15 minutes, repelling the wave after wave of Japanese attacks to secure a hard-fought victory.

Ikanivere says he is proud that the boys worked hard for each other as they had talked about coming out to hunt and to harvest.

Japan Coach Eddie Jones says it is a hard pill to swallow as they let Fiji play well in the 2nd half and letting Fiji get away too much in the first half.
