If there was someone who deserved to watch how Jasa Veremalua has grown to be an international rugby player apart from playing rugby on the beach in Korotogo Village in Nadroga, it has to be his late father.

These were the sentiments of Veremalua’s mum, Talica Salalevu as she reminisces about how Jasa’s father raised him to be the person he is today.

Jasa’s dad passed away when Jasa was only 19.

Salalevu says that Veremalua has been a father figure for his other three siblings and he had been very influential in improving the livelihood of their family.

Salalevu adds that Veremalua’s caring character was something she believed that made him reach milestones in his rugby career and everyone in Korotogo will unite to cheer him on as he dons the Fijian Jersey at the 2018 Rugby World Cup 7s this weekend.

Jasa attended Sigatoka Methodist Primary School, Sigatoka Methodist College and then went on to St Thomas High School in Lautoka.

He was also part of the Fiji 7s team that won the first 7s gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
