The Hurricanes have extended their winning streak over the Crusaders at home with a 29‑19 victory over the reigning champions in Wellington last night.

The Crusaders have not won in Wellington since 2012 and suffered their fifth successive defeat in the New Zealand capital.

The Hurricanes dominated the first half, leading 26‑5 and by the time the Crusaders began to fight back, it was a little too late.

The defending champions lacked their usual clinical edge as they had so much possession and territory in the second‑half but could not capitalise.

The absence of Richie Mo'unga was compounded by the loss of Ryan Crotty to a concussion early on after a collision with his own teammate David Havili. Manasa Mataele on as a substitute for Crotty then scored a try.

A penalty conversion by Jordie Barrett in the 66th minute sealed the win for the Hurricanes.

In other Super Rugby match results, the Highlanders beat the Stormers 33-15, the Rebels and defeated the Brumbies 33-10, Reds beat the Bulls 20-14, the Sharks thrashed the Sunwolves 50-22 while the Blues beat the Lions 38-35.

The Waratahs will meet the Jaguares at 9.40 this morning.
