The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team has started their Hong Kong 7s campaign with a solid 17-7 win over Ireland.

It was a slow start in the first half as the Fijiana 7s struggled to break the Irish defence.

Stacey Flood scored first for Ireland as they led 7-0 at half time.

The Fijiana found their flair in the second half, with veteran Reijeli Daveua busting through to score and level the score at 7 all.

18 year old debutant Meredani Qoro added her name to try scorers list to extend Fiji’s lead to 12-7.

Sprinter Younis Bese displayed perfect footwork and skill as she scored for the Fijiana taking the lead to 17-7.

They will play Brazil at 9.04 tonight in their second match.

They will meet Australia at 1.55pm tomorrow in their final pool game.

The cup quarter-finals will start at 11.37pm tomorrow, the semi-finals will begin at 6.43pm Sunday, and the final will be at 11.40pm Sunday.
