Jarryd Hayne and the Gold Coast Titans have made an early statement on day one of the NRL Auckland Nines.
The cross‑code star showed flashes of brilliance in leading the Titans to a 25‑4 victory over the Sharks in the opening match of the tournament at Eden Park.
The Sharks could not get their hands on the ball in the first half and the weight of possession took its toll as the Titans scored two tries in four minutes to Kane Elgey and Nathaniel Peteru.
Hayne then made it 17‑0 before the break when he showed off his aerial ability after the Sharks failed to take a high ball cleanly.
Tyrone Roberts sealed the match with a try that was started by a cross‑kick from Hayne.
