Jarryd Hayne loves the freedom of the Auckland Nines.
Hayne has been one of the faces of the Auckland Nines and he will make his first appearance in the event when he dons the No 38 jersey for the Gold Coast Titans this weekend.
He wore 38 for the San Francisco 49ers and the number was the first he was given when he joined the Eels as a 17‑year‑old more than a decade ago.
Hayne shapes as one of the tournament's drawcards and says he is excited about the opportunity to play in Auckland this weekend.
Hayne will play for the Titans in the tournament opener at 11am today.
