Jarryd Hayne has broken his silence after reports emerged suggesting the NRL star wants to quit the Gold Coast Titans.
Hayne denied reports that he wants to quit the Titans and explore his options in Sydney in order to be closer to his family.
Currently participating in the Rugby League World Cup with Fiji Bati, The Daily Telegraph claims Hayne wants to move closer to Sydney and is said to be considering all possibilities, including rugby union.
But the man himself told Channel Seven he has not asked the Titans for a release.
The Titans released a statement saying they expect Hayne back for pre‑season training in January, maintaining there’s been no discussion about a release. Gold Coast CEO Graham Annesley says that today’s news had blindsided him.
Channel Seven rugby league reporter Josh Massoud says Hayne’s former side the Parramatta Eels is the favourite to secure his services should he walk out on the Titans.
Hayne will feature for the Bati when they take on Wales at 9.30pm this Sunday in the Rugby League World Cup.
