First ever Raluve Secondary Schools competition launched by FRU

77 secondary school girls teams with 3,100 players will be competing in the first ever Weetbix Raluve Secondary Schools competition.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO, John O'Connor says this competition is another milestone achievement for Fiji Rugby and a good platform to develop women's rugby in the country.

He says they have unearthed some hidden talents during the Marama Championship and Ranadi Cup and this competition will develop rugby from the grassroots level.

O'Connor also acknowledged the continuous support of CJ Patel to the development of rugby in the country.

CJ Patel Group Marketing Manager Ashwin Prasad says they are overwhelmed to take the naming rights of the Girls Secondary Schools rugby competition and they see the need to support girls rugby in schools which will ultimately support women's rugby.

The Girls Secondary School rugby competition will feature two grades, Under 16 and Under 18.

The Vodafone Deans Rugby competition will start next Saturday while the Eastern zone will begin their competition this weekend with the Ratu Kadavulevu School Under 18s hosting Queen Victoria School at 3pm Saturday.
