Fiji will host the 2016 Oceania Sevens men’s and women’s competition for the first time.

The tournament will be held from the 11th to the 12th of November at the ANZ Stadium.

There will be 10 teams in the men’s competition while there will be 7 teams in the women’s division.

Fiji, Australia, Samoa and Tonga will be the top bets in the men’s division as New Zealand will not be taking part while the Australian women’s team will be the top bet in the women’s division.

Gold medal winning captain Osea Kolinisau says this tournament will be a good build up for the team.

He says it will be a good chance for the fans to see the gold medal winners play live as they could not see them playing in Rio.

Kolinisau says negotiations are still ongoing in regards to his coaching scholarship offer in the United Kingdom and he sees no harm in him joining the team and getting back in shape.

This tournament will also serve as a qualifier for non-core HSBC 7's men’s teams into the Wellington, Sydney and Hong Kong legs of the 2017 World Series.
