Fiji Men’s 7s thrashes Kiribati 76-0 to book quarter final clash with Solomon Islands

The Fiji Men’s Rugby 7s team showed their dominance in the Pacific Games after demolishing Kiribati 76-0 in their second game this afternoon.

The side won their first match against American Samoa 55-0 last night.

They will face hosts the Solomon Islands in the quarter finals at 7.36 tonight.

The semi finals will start at 2.24pm tomorrow while the gold medal final will be at 9pm tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Women’s 7s side thrashed the Solomon Islands 47-0 in their second match today.

They will play the Cook Islands at 6.12 tonight in their final pool match.

The Women’s Championship semi finals will begin at 12pm tomorrow and the final will be at 8.12pm tomorrow.

The Fiji Women’s Basketball team is currently leading Cook Islands 47-45 in their semi final.

Looking at other results today, team Fiji flag bearer, Taniela Rainibogi won three gold medals in the Men’s 109kg Weightlifting at the Pacific Games this morning.

Rainibogi won his first gold with a lift of 157kg in the snatch event.

He also won gold in the clean and jerk event with a lift of 192kg and secured a third gold with his total lift of 357kg.

The Men’s volleyball team finished in 5th place after defeating hosts Solomon in three straight sets.

Fiji currently has 6 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals.

New Caledonia currently leads the standings with 33 gold, 24 silver and 25 bronze with Australia in second with 23 gold, 16 silver and 6 bronze.
