The Fiji Rugby Union has released the names of a strong Fiji Women’s 15s team that will play Papua New Guinea in the inaugural Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship this Saturday with the winner to keep their Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 dreams alive.
The team selected has an experienced side in the likes of Talica Vodo, Leilani Burnes, Esiteri Bulikiobo and Rusila Tamoi to name a few.
FRU CEO John O’Connor says PNG will be tough but the players have been reminded to go in with a positive attitude.
The winner of this one‑off match will take their place alongside two Asian teams in the final qualifying event for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 in Hong Kong in December.
The top two sides from this tournament will complete the 12‑team line‑up the World Cup, which runs from 9‑26 August.
The match will kick off at 3pm this Saturday with tickets being sold at $5 flat at the Fiji Sports Council Office in Suva.
