Erasmus manages recovery as Springboks prepare for All Blacks challenge

The Springboks are looking to acclimatize to conditions in New Zealand as quickly as possible after touching down in Auckland yesterday.

Following a defeat and a victory over Australia in recent weeks, the world champions will face the All Blacks in back-to-back Tests in Auckland and Wellington as they look to defend their Rugby Championship title.

Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus and his management team will conduct a flush-out session with the squad today, which will include gym work and recovery, before taking to the training field tomorrow to adapt to the local conditions.

Erasmus says the focus is on managing the players to ensure they are battle-ready.

He says they have structured their training schedule to allow the players to recover from two physical matches against Australia, while at the same time gradually build up for the next two fixtures.

Erasmus says it’s always tough playing in NZ, but the group is in good spirits, and they are fully aware of the magnitude of the task in front of them. The Springboks will play the All Blacks at 7.05pm next Saturday at Eden Park and at Wellington’s Sky Stadium on September 13th.
