This weekend will be an emotional moment for young Fiji Airways Men's 7s prop Mesulame Kunavula who lost his older brother at this time, last year.
The 21-year-old made his debut at the Wellington 7s last year where he dedicated his games to his late brother.
Yesterday, Kunavula shared some photos of his late brother on his social media page stating this weekend’s game is dedicated to his late brother.
In camp, coach Gareth Baber says Kunavula has been a revelation in the team with the ability to back his height amongst other older players.
Now the young forward has been given a spot in the starting line up ahead of other experienced players in the team.
Meanwhile, captain, Jerry Tuwai says they are ready for this weekend.
Barring any upsets, Fiji is likely to meet Scotland or France in the quarter-final, they are likely to take on England or Australia in the semifinal, or New Zealand or South Africa in the final.
Fiji will take on Russia at 7.06pm tomorrow in their first game, they will then face Wales at 10.06pm tomorrow before facing Australia at 4.06am Saturday in their last pool match of the Dubai 7s.
The Medal quarterfinals will start at 6.30pm Saturday, the semifinal will be held at 1.19am Sunday while the final will kick off at 4.33am Sunday.
South Africa are the defending champions. Fiji has only won the Dubai 7s title twice which was in 2013 and 2015. We have lost out in the final seven times.
