Almost half of the Flying Fijians squad that will be part of the Pacific Nations Cup next month will be from the Fijian Drua team and according to Drua CEO Brian Thorburn, it's a great achievement for the Club who played their first season of Super Rugby this year.

He says it also speaks volumes about the development of their players and the exposure to top-flight rugby that the Club provides.

Thorburn says it is also the very reason for their existence, which is to provide a sustainable pathway for Fijian players to the ultimate goal, which is to step out into the field in the famous white and black jersey of the national 15s team.

Drua Coach Mick Byrne says he is proud of this group of players who have worked hard for the Club in their first Super Rugby Pacific season.

The 16 Drua players who have been called up for national duties are Haereiti Hetet, Manasa Saulo, Mesulame Dolokoto, Tevita Ikanivere, Isoa Nasilasila, Ratu Rotuisolia, Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta, Rusiate Nasove, Frank Lomani, Simione Kuruvoli, Peni Matawalu, Teti Tela, Kalaveti Ravouvou, Apisalome Vota, Vinaya Habosi and Ilaisa Droasese.

Fiji’s first match of the Pacific Nations Cup is against Tonga on the 2nd of July at the ANZ Stadium.
