Crusaders coach Scott Robertson has included former Wallabies wing Digby Ioane in his squad to play in the Brisbane Global Tens this weekend.
The tens might be viewed as something of a run‑and‑giggle affair, but if a finisher like Ioane can do something special maybe it will give Robertson and his backs coach Leon MacDonald something extra to discuss as they prepare for their final trial match against the Hurricanes Waverley next weekend.
With Nemani Nadolo and Johnny McNicholl playing in the northern hemisphere and Jone Macilai recovering from a serious leg injury, the Crusaders now have to arrange for two of George Bridge, Sione Fifita, Manasa Mataele and Ioane to appear on the wings.
The Crusaders are pooled with the Blues, Reds and Samoa.
Their first game will be against Samoa at 4.30pm Saturday.
