Coach calls for full effort as Bula Boys eye FIFA World Cup qualification

As the Bula Boys prepare for perhaps their best chance to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2026, Coach Rob Sherman says they expect 100 percent effort from the players in their match against the Solomon Islands at the HFC Bank Stadium tonight.

Sherman says it will be a very close encounter and they will be focused on ensuring they execute the game plan and achieve their performance objectives.

He says there are good indicators in terms of consistency, and that is what they are looking for.

The coach adds that there are objectives they have set, such as how many times they get into the box, among other things.

Captain Roy Krishna, who joined the team on Monday, says they are focusing on themselves, as it is going to be a tough match at home.

He says if they play well, they will build good momentum in the tournament.

The Bula Boys face the Solomon Islands at 7 tonight.

They will then face Papua New Guinea on 14th November and New Caledonia on the 17th.

The winner of the Oceania Qualifiers on 24th March next year in New Zealand will qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026, while the runner-up will earn a second chance to qualify via the FIFA Intercontinental Playoff Tournament.
