Bula FC has officially been launched, marking a major milestone for profession nal football in Fiji and creating new opportunities for aspiring players to pursue professional careers in the sport.

President of the Fiji Football Association, Rajesh Patel says the name is simple, powerful, and deeply Fijian, it represents life, warmth, and commitment.

He explained that while the club was originally registered as Bula Boys FC, it will now compete as Bula FC to reflect inclusivity and future growth, adding that, rather than being limited to "Bula Boys", the new name prepares the club for the inclusion of a women’s professional league.

He adds that Bula FC is more than just a team; it is a symbol of unity and progress for the sport, providing every aspiring professional footballer in the country with a clear pathway to realise their dreams.

Patel acknowledged that, as with any new beginning, challenges are expected, but assured that the Fiji FA is ready to overcome them.

He also acknowledged the Saudi Tourism Authority’s USD 20 million investment into the OFC Professional League, which will see Bula FC represent Fiji from January 2026.

The launch also saw the appointment of McDonald’s Fiji Managing Director, Mark McElrath as the new Chairman of Bula FC.

McElrath says this is an opportunity for every child, teenager, and footballer in Fiji to pursue a professional career.

He announced the club’s inaugural leadership team, which includes Anushil Kumar as Acting CEO, Nazia Ali as Acting Chief Commercial Officer, and Stephane Auvray as Head Coach.

He says says the club is privileged to have Auvray onboard, noting his international experience and the excitement he brings to professional football in Fiji.

The OFC Professional League will be officially launched next Tuesday in Auckland, with Bula FC representing Fiji in the inaugural 2026 season.
