Highlanders coach Tony Brown expects to be without Captain Ben Smith for a "couple of weeks".
Smith left the field with concussion inside the first half hour of his team's 24‑15 loss to the Chiefs at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin on Friday night.
The fullback's head slammed into the turf when he fell after an aerial challenge with Chiefs opposite Damian McKenzie.
He remained on the ground for more than five minutes, before he was helped off the field and replaced by Matt Faddes.
