One of the most revered players of Oceania, Batram Suri stands in the way of the Digicel Kulas with his Solomon Islands women’s side in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup.

Suri who is the head coach brings with him a wealth of knowledge on Fiji’s playing style, strengths and weaknesses. He featured prominently for the Nasinu and Nadi soccer teams in the 1990s and 2000s.

Suri’s success as a coach comes after an illustrious playing career which saw him counted among the region’s top talents, representing the Solomon Islands at national level and playing club football in Fiji, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Tahiti and Solomons.

Suri previously coached the Solomon Islands U-19 men’s team to the semi-finals of the OFC U-19 Championship in 2018 and led the nation’s U-23 men’s team to second place in the OFC Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in 2019.

The Fiji women’s team can also expect a vocal Solomons crowd at the HFC Bank Stadium tomorrow.

The Kulas take on the Solomon Islands at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Samoa will face Papua New Guinea in the first semi-final at 4.30pm.

The final will be played at 7pm on Saturday.

The winner of the Women's Nations Cup will qualify for the inter-confederation playoff for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The playoff will be played in New Zealand next year.

The inter-confederation playoffs will determine the final three qualification spots for the FIFA Women's World Cup.

It will feature 10 teams from 6 confederations split into three groups, with the winner of each group qualifying for the Women's World Cup.
