The Ba women’s team have created history after thrashing Rewa 53–24 in the Royal Tea Ranadi Trophy semi-final, after reaching only the quarter-finals in the past three years.

Vitorina Veikoso, who played at fullback for the Ba side, had an outstanding game with her strong defence and determination to secure the win.

Veikoso, who was part of the Fijiana 7s extended squad last year, told fijivillage Sports that her goal this year is to once again be part of the national 7s team.

Team manager Malakai Vukinavanua says today’s victory is the result of sacrifice and dedication from the players, who have shown great commitment by attending training sessions and following instructions to stay focused and come out victorious.

Vukinavanua adds that for the past three years, they have been trying to reach the final but were unable to and today’s game is proof of their perseverance and hard work.

Meanwhile, the second semi-final between Macuata and Tavua is currently underway at HFC Bank Stadium.
