Australian Rugby sevens veteran Ed Jenkins has retired after a 10‑year career which included leading Australia at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

The 31‑year‑old who captained Australia for six seasons has accepted advice to quit immediately due to a shoulder injury.

He claimed a silver medal at the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010 and bronze in Glasgow four years later.

He is Australia’s most capped 7s player of all time.

Australia is pooled with USA, Canada and Scotland for the Sydney 7s.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team will be announced this week.

Fiji is pooled with New Zealand, Samoa and Russia.

Fiji’s first game is against Samoa at 8.28pm next Friday, they will play Russia in their second game at 4.09pm next Saturday before taking on New Zealand at 7.42pm next Saturday.

The quarterfinals will be held next Sunday at 12.28pm, the semifinals is at 6.58pm while the final will be held at 9.48pm.
